This past weekend we wrapped up the first meet of the 2011 season. 25 competitors rocked out the Skydive Deland swoop pond! Thats right, the retention pond on the opposite side of the airport is where we set up.
Friday was the practice day and both courses were set up by noon. Saturday morning brought a light tail wind(less than 5mph) which held through most of the day. At the end of the meet Greg Windmiller from the Golden Knights was in third, Brian McNenney from Slipstream took the Silver, and Pablo Hernandez from the PD Factory Team rocked the field to take home the Gold medal.
Greg Windmiller also set a new Florida state distance record at 147.30 meters. The previous record was set in 2005 by Jonathan Tagle.

Big Thanks to Skydive Deland for keeping us in the air throughout the day. Our judging staff for their long hard day out in the sun, without them we’ve got no scores! And lets not forget our league sponsor Performance Designs.
Here’s a trailer to event video that PD & Freefallcinema will be producing from this meet. Enjoy…
