This years meet in Raeford was another great event.  Thirty competitors showed up from around the US along with Yuri Chernechov  from Ukraine who finished off his training trip to the US with this meet.  There were Eighteen competitors in the amateur class and twelve in the Pro class.  We started Saturday off with the mandatory practice round and continued with the Zone Accuracy event in zero-three mph tail winds.  The distance event came next with some spectacular runs including a new North Carolina competition distance record set by Tommy Dellibac at 128.73 meters.

By Noon we into the speed event.  Mike McGuire suffered an injury during the first round of speed after a hard landing by the bank of the pond.  After a brief course closure we resumed to finish jumping by around three o’clock.  The new North Carolina competition speed record was set by Tommy Dellibac  with a time of 2.320 seconds.

After taking a break we met back at PK’s Bar and Grill for the awards and a delicious BBQ dinner.  Tommy Dellibac took the Gold with 539.71 points. Kelsey Mizuer grabbed the silver with 530.51. and Greg Windmiller rounded out the top 3 with 522.97 points.

This meet we also ran a pro/am where we matched up pro competitor with amateur competitors to work together throughout the meet.  At the end we added up each team’s score to seat a pro/am victor.  It was great to see everyone working together throughout the day exchanging ideals and helping their fellow competitor.  Bart Rogowski and Kelsey Mizuer took the top team spot.

Big thanks to Raeford Parachute Center for hosting, our spectacular staff of judges, John Hawke for ground logistics support, and league support provided by Performance Designs and Mirage Systems.  The Fifth and final meet of the 2012 regular season will be next month, June 9-10, at Skydive the Farm.  June 14, 15, 16 are the official competition days for the USPA Nationals at Skydive the Farm.
